Farms owned by Charles   Horne, Joseph Burke, Jesse Dutton, and Joseph Ward were purchased for the new   Ridley Park

Ridley Park Association   formed

 

10/19/1872

The first train on the   P.W.&B. Railroad stopped at Ridley Park

 

2/3/1873

Sidney T. Fuller   purchased the first piece of property at te corner of Gilbert Road and Crum   Lynne Road

 

5/21/1873

Ridley Park Building and   Loan Association was chartered

 

5/7/1874

Ridley Park Baptist   Church was dedicated

 

7/25/1880

Christ Episcopal Church   was opened

 

12/12/1887

Ridley Park's Charter   was granted making Ridley Park a Borough

 

2/1/1889

The first library was   opened in Ridley Park, in 2 rooms over John C. Tulluchs Store (now the Brick   Haus)

 

4/15/1890

The library moved to the   second floor of William Ward's store at Hinckley and Sellers

 

3/3/1891

The Hope Hose Fire   Company was officially organized

 

12/24/1892

The library above   William Ward's store was destroyed by fire

 

10/20/1896

Borough Hall is formally   dedicated at the regular Council meeting

 

10/22/1896

The original Firehouse   was dedicated

 

4/18/1901

Ridley Park Fire Company   was chartered

 

2/2/1908

St. Madeline Church was   dedicated

 

1/22/1909

The first performance   for members only at the Barnstormers Theater was Arabian Nights

 

2/10/1910

The first Taylor   Hospital was formally opened by Dr. Horace Furness Taylor at 15 Dutton Street

 

5/13/1910

The first public   performance at the Barnstormers Theater

 

7/4/1912

The new Ridley Park   Library was dedicated

 

7/5/1912

The Ridley Park Library   was officially opened to the public

 

6/6/1915

Ridley Park Presbyterian   Church was dedicated

 

1/21/1918

Ridley Park High School   was dedicated

 

12/22/1941

The present train station   was opened for business

 

5/30/1943

The old train station   was demolished when the new bridge was being built

 

5/1/1955

The new Methodist Church   was dedicated

 

6/1/1961

Ridley Park Boys Club   was chartered


4/16/1978

The current Taylor   Hospital was rededicated
